During the journey on this world-famous line, built between 1898 and 1904 and now included on the UNESCO World Cultural Heritage List, which inspires the dreams of many travel enthusiasts, we will watch and have the chance to photograph Alpine landscapes from the fairy tales featuring Heidi’s villages. After an enjoyable train ride of approximately 2 hours, we arrive in St. Moritz, Switzerland’s natural wonder and a frequent destination of the jet set. After our panoramic tour of St. Moritz, the homeland of Heidi, the lovable heroine who left a smile-filled memory in all of our childhoods and lives in the Alps with her grandfather and best friend Peter, we head to our hotel in the Alsace region. Upon arrival at the hotel, room allocation and free time to rest.
ALSACE / BASEL – (Alsace Icons: Colmar & Riquewihr & Obernai Tour) – (Strasbourg Tour)
After breakfast, full free time. During this free time, guests who wish may join our extra Alsace Icons: Colmar & Riquewihr & Obernai Tour program (95 Euro). On our tour, we first go to the fairy-tale town of Colmar, where we will see the Old Customs House, the Pfister House, and the colorful houses around the Rhine River, as well as the city’s most famous area, Petite Venise (Little Venice). In the unique setting surrounded by the Rhine River and its canals, you will find both many delicious foods to suit your taste and the opportunity to buy many souvenirs. Our next stop is Riquewihr, famous for its vineyards, flower-filled balconies, distinctive row of shops, cobblestone streets closed to cars, buildings that somehow survived World War II without damage, and charming cafes; with its tower containing the Dolder Museum, which carries the city’s story to the present day through documents, it resembles a Grimm fairy tale. After our visit in Riquewihr, we set off for Obernai. In Obernai, where charming buildings resembling cookies rather than structures welcome us, during our tour we will see the town’s most famous square, Place de Marche, the statue of St. Odile, the patron saint of the Alsace region, and the fountain built in her honor, as well as Place de l’Etoile, the square we will see most often with its cookie-like appearance. After the city tour in Obernai, within the free time offered, guests who wish may join our extra Strasbourg Tour program (40 Euro). Strasbourg will be the first stop on our tour. Located on the border of Germany, Switzerland, and France, and also the largest city in the Alsace region, Strasbourg will welcome us like a painting, as if taken straight out of a fairy tale. During our city tour on foot in the pedestrian center and streets of Strasbourg, which was added to the UNESCO World Cultural Heritage List in 1988 and has hosted the European Parliament since 1992, we will see Petite France, famous for its Alsace Houses that make us feel right in the middle of a fairy-tale land, Gutenberg Square and its statue, Notre Dame Cathedral, the city’s most important structure located in the very heart of the city, and Kammerzell House, the city’s oldest house, which still continues to operate as a hotel and restaurant. After the Strasbourg city tour and the free time that follows, we return to our hotel in the Alsace region.
