Day 1 | Istanbul – Zurich – Freiburg im Breisgau – Belfort

Meeting at 05:40 in front of the Turkish Airlines counter at the international departures terminal of Istanbul Airport. After our ticket, baggage, and passport procedures, we fly to Zurich at 08:40 on Turkish Airlines flight TK1907. Landing at Zurich Airport at 09:45 local time. After our passport and baggage procedures, we begin a panoramic Zurich city tour from the airport by our vehicle. In our city tour, places to be seen include the Grossmünster Monastery, one of the city’s impressive structures with its twin towers; the Fraumünster Church, famous for its 19th-century stained glass; the Banhoffstrasse shopping street, where the windows of famous Swiss brands adorn the street; the Limmat River, which passes through the city and flows into Lake Zurich; and the beautiful bridges connecting the two sides of the city over this river; and St. Peter’s Church, which has Europe’s largest clock. At the end of this tour, we depart for the Freiburg im Breisgau tour. After an approximately 1-hour journey, the most important symbol of Freiburg is the “Bächle,” derived from the German word Bach (stream), meaning the small canals fed by the waters from the rivers and streams around the city. In our city tour on foot, these water channels, Münsterplatz Square, Freiburg Cathedral with its Gothic architecture, Markthalle with many restaurants of world cuisines, and Martin Tower will be among the places we will see. Freiburg is considered the birthplace of the famous Black Forest Cake (Schwarzwälder Kirschtorte), and the cake takes its name from the pine forests located right next to the city, which are dark because they are very dense and do not let light through. After a short break to taste this cake, we depart for Belfort. Upon arrival, we complete our check-in procedures and settle into our rooms. We depart for Mulhouse by our vehicle. After a short journey, we will begin the Mulhouse tour. In our walking tour, starting from Rue du Sauvage and continuing through the streets leading to Place de la Reunion, we will witness the traces of history. The European Tower, one of the city’s iconic structures, the Bollwerk Tower, one of the oldest remains of the city walls built in 1390, and St. Etienne Cathedral, with its Gothic architecture and a market set up in front of it during the Christmas season, will be among the places we will see. After our tour, we will return to Belfort and to our hotel.

Day 2 | Belfort | [B]

After breakfast at our hotel, free time. Guests who wish may join the optional Strasbourg, Riquewihr, Colmar and Eguisheim tour organized by our guide. Our overnight stay will be at our 3* ibis Belfort Danjoutin (or similar) hotel in Belfort.

We will start our tour, where we will visit France’s most fairy-tale-like cities, with Strasbourg, which we will reach after an approximately 2-hour journey. Grande Ile (the city center), an island in the historic center of the city and listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, Strasbourg Notre Dame Cathedral, where Romanesque and Gothic architecture can be seen together, and the houses dating from the 16th and 17th centuries in Petite France will be among the main places to see. Our next stop will be Riquewihr. Today, Riquewihr fascinates as a village that has remained as it was in the 16th century. In addition, Riquewihr is also famous for the Riesling and other wonderful wines produced in the village. After our walking tour here, we depart for Colmar. The city, which stands out with its well-preserved old buildings, also attracts visitors to the region with many architectural works and museums with different characteristics. Built on the banks of the Rhine River, the city will enchant us with its streets and historic buildings. In our tour, Colmar Old Town, St. Martin’s Church, the Phister House, one of Colmar’s iconic architectural landmarks, the Old Customs House Koifhus, and the Tanner’s District, which today almost mesmerizes visitors with its wooden houses, will be among the main places we will see. After our visit here, we depart for Eguisheim, chosen as the favorite French village in 2013 and the last visit of the day, which we will do on foot. Eguisheim, a warm and charming medieval village surrounded by vineyards, is also famous for producing high-quality Alsace wines. Return to Belfort and our hotel at the end of the tour.

Day 3 | Belfort – Lucerne – Montreux – Lausanne – Geneva | [B]

After breakfast at our hotel, we complete our check-out procedures and set off toward Geneva. After an approximately 2-hour journey, our first tour will be the Lucerne city tour, where the famous French poet Alexandre Dumas said, “Switzerland is a beautiful oyster, and Lucerne is the pearl inside it.” We will continue our journey by visiting the Lion Monument (Löwendenkmal), built in memory of the 800 Swiss soldiers who died while protecting King Louis XVI and his family during the French Revolution; the Chapel Bridge on the Reuss River, where swans swim around; nearly 100 triangular oil paintings on wooden ceilings above the bridge; and the octagonal water tower attached to the bridge. After an approximately 2.5-hour journey, we arrive in Möntrö, remembered in our history with the Straits Agreement. After touring this beautiful city on the shores of Lake Geneva within the framework of a panoramic Montreux city tour, we then depart for Lausanne, the city we know from the treaty that formed the international legal basis of our Republic. After a short journey, we arrive in the city on the shores of Lake Geneva. Following the panoramic Lausanne city tour, we will begin the panoramic Geneva city tour, the final stop of our day, after arriving in Geneva about 1 hour later. In our city tour, some parts of which we will do on foot, the Mont Blanc Bridge, the Jean-Jacques Rousseau Island, the Flower Clock, the Grand Cathedral, the Peace Park, and the United Nations Building will be among the places to be seen. After our tour, transfer to our hotel. We complete our check-in procedures and settle into our rooms. Our overnight stay will be at our 4* Geneva by Fassbind (or similar) hotel in Geneva.

Day 4 | Geneva | [B]

After breakfast at our hotel, free time. Guests who wish may join the optional Annecy tour (France) organized by our guide. In the evening, guests who wish may join the optional Traditional Fondue menu with live music dinner tour organized by our guide. Our overnight stay will be at our 4* Geneva by Fassbind (or similar) hotel in Geneva.

We head to Annecy, which the geographer Raoul Blanchard described as the “Pearl of the French Alps” because of its appearance squeezed between Lake Annecy and the mountains. In our tour, after discovering the very romantic city with its Venetian-like canals, charming narrow streets, attractive restaurants and cafés, and flowers blooming everywhere, we will give some free time. After gathering at the place and time announced by our guide, we return by our vehicle to Geneva, about an hour away, and to our hotel.

Day 5 | Geneva – Istanbul | [B]

After breakfast at our hotel, we complete our check-out procedures and head to Geneva Airport at the transfer time announced by our guide. After our ticket, baggage, and passport procedures, we fly to Istanbul at 18:25 on Turkish Airlines flight TK1920. Landing at Istanbul Airport at 23:45 local time and the end of our tour. We bid farewell, hoping to meet again on our next distinguished and enjoyable trip.
